A mechanic receipt — also called an auto repair receipt or car repair receipt — is the document a repair shop issues after servicing a vehicle. It is the customer's proof of payment and the shop's record of work performed. Whether the job is a brake replacement, transmission rebuild, electrical diagnostic, or routine service, a proper mechanic receipt itemizes every charge.
A complete auto repair receipt includes the repair shop name, address, and phone number; the date and work order number; the technician's name or ID; the vehicle's year, make, model, mileage, license plate, and last digits of the VIN; detailed parts with part numbers and prices; labor hours and shop rate; diagnostic charges and shop supplies; subtotal, sales tax, and grand total; the payment method; and a warranty statement covering the repairs.
Add the mechanic shop name, street address, and phone number to the header block. Use the additional information block to include a work order number and the technician's name — two details that make any repair shop receipt feel real.
Enter the customer's vehicle year, make, model, and current mileage. Include the license plate and the last few digits of the VIN to tie the repair to a specific vehicle — the same level of detail a real auto repair invoice carries.
Add each diagnostic charge, replacement part, labor line, and shop supply as a separate item. Use realistic labor rates (typically $90–$150 per hour) and break parts out individually so the customer can see what they paid for. Configure local sales tax for accuracy.

The terms "mechanic receipt" and "auto repair invoice" are often used interchangeably, but there is a technical difference. A mechanic receipt is the document issued after payment as proof of the transaction. An auto repair invoice is the bill — issued before or at the time of payment — that tells the customer what they owe.
